Good afternoon,
Firstly, I want to thank you for beginning to take the appropriate steps to combat the
ubiquitous homeless crisis that we face in San Bernardino. I know it's no easy feat.
I'm inquiring about your recently launched program in San Bernardino with Hope the
Mission. I tried to call the service request number on June 14th, (909) 936-3478, which was
announced on your page, but I received a message saying the voicemail is not set up. I
realize that the program just launched, but for a program of this magnitude, costing
several million dollars, I find that absolutely unacceptable. For starters, the service line
should have been open for general inquiries and so that requests can begin to get calendered
in for outreach. Now that the program has officially started today, June 15th, there is still
NO PERSON actively taking the calls, nor is there an option to leave voicemails. Emails
have gone unanswered as well.
Furthermore, citizens in my community (from all walks of life and different political
beliefs), are coming together because we know this is a big issue and that we MUST work
together. People are displaced, but in the mix of it, this crisis is and will continue to
jeopardize our property values as homeowners. We are inquiring about possible volunteer
opportunities that may be available to assist the City and Hope the Mission further. We
understand this is a large-scope project that will require way more resources than we are
currently afforded. Please advise what the phone issue is correct it immediately. What is
your expected turn-around time for responding to service calls?
We are concerned citizens who want to improve San Bernardino's reputation and help the
unhoused find the requisite resources/rehab programs to become productive and ABLE
BODIED citizens. --But we need YOUR help in carrying out the plan and making sure it is a
success!!
Thank you for your time and I do hope that this phone issue is rectified STAT as we have
already disseminated this info to several people needing outreach ASAP.
