Alexander Dear Mayor and San Bernardino City Council, My coworkers work and reside in your City. I come to you all to ask that you all please take into consideration that removing 70 families is not a quick fix. This is a unfortunate example of the fact that Affordable Housing is needed now! These unsafe conditions that have developed are the result of the city not providing space for affordable places for the people who work in the service industries and not top tier professional jobs. The families who remain do not qualify for existing safety net resources. They are facing homelessness after a two week hotel voucher expires. As these families already paid rent, they should be reimbursed. The landlord should comply with the law and provide vouchers as these families transition into more permanent housing. No elderly or child or Veteran should be homeless. Collaborating with the housing groups, community groups and all involved will formulate reasonable solutions Thank you Beverly M.
