Housing J
There is an immediate need for more permanent housing to end our housing crisis. Yet at $800k+ per
unit it will take enormous resources and many years to build sufficient supply.
In the meantime, a high percentage (varies by PIT count) of our homeless are literally unsheltered

Interim Supportive Housing
INTERIM SUPPORTIVE HOUSING IS A SAFE PLACE TO:
• Take a deep breath, and have peace of mind and support to focus on
rebuilding their lives
• Receive intensive case management and supportive services in an
environment that provides safety
AND is a fiscally responsible investment:
• If we invest in sufficient interim housing, that early intervention
means we will not need as much government- funded permanent
housing in the long run
The cost to our communities of keeping people on the streets
(emergency room visits, encampment sweeps, lost business revenue
and much more) far outweighs the investment in interim housing *
www.dignitym
*Santa Clara County estimates it costs $83k/yr. per person who is chronically homeless. Yet that just maintains the problem
and does not account for the impact on businesses, lost tax revenues, and the overall community
