D Street San Bernardino, CA 92401 RE: Resolution Approving Street Vacation of a Portion of I Street (Ward 3) We are concerned that children and community members living, attending school, and working close to the BNSF rail yard live in high risk cancer cluster zones. This expansion will bring the exposure of emissions closer to our homes. A sound wall will not be a solution to the troubling health problems our community has endured. Residents living next to the BNSF rail yard live within the 90th - 99th percentile of air pollution. This can lead to long-term chronic illnesses such as asthma, respiratory and cardiac illnesses, cancers and more. Almost 50% of students at Ramona Alessandro Elementary School reported asthma or asthma symptoms. Also, BNSF has also lacked proper outreach to a community that is heavily Spanish speaking and working class by not providing material in Spanish. We do not support moving forward with this project. Sincerely, Ma Carmen Gonzalez,, San Bernardino C.A Rosy Torreblanca,. San Bernardino C.A Hugo Torreblanca,.
