Dear Mayor and dear Council, My name is Fernando Romero, I am the Executive Director for the Pomona Economic Opportunity Center (PEOC). The PEOC is an immigrant rights organization providing services and advocacy to day laborers in Pomona and across the Inland Empire. For the past 12 years as PEOC, have been providing support and services to a community of day laborers located across the street from a Home Depot off HighlandAve and the 215 freeway in the city of San Bernardino. Tonight we are here to ask for a redress of grievances that befell our community ofworkers. We're asking for transparency regarding the incidents that happened onNov. 2, 2021. Our asks Our Demands: We demand that the police department cease the targeting of our members. We strongly encourage you to order your police chief to lift the 30-day hold immediately and release the vehicles, and to generally halt the attacks on hard workers who are seeking only a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay. We want to know who ordered this operation and why? Was it one of the businesses around or did it come from the police department? We demand a meeting with the chief of police, council members, These are your constituents and they deserve to be heard. Thank you. -- Fernando Romero Executive Director, Pomona Economic Opportunity Center BIA-accredited representative Representante acreditado por la Junta de Apelaciones Migratorias Pronouns: He/Him/His Pronombre personal: Él
