Comments Goo evening Mayor ao councilmembers. My name is Fanelly Millan. I'm a
community organizer and member of the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice. I'm writing
on regards to yesterday's police raid at the Day Labor comer on Highland and Lincoln.
Approximately, 15-20 workers were fined for things such as nota seat belt while being inside a
parked vehicle. Other workers got their work trucks towed & were told vehicles could not be
picked up until 30 days later which is a violation of the Fourth Amendment, protecting the
public from unreasonable searches and seizures. Also, two of our street vendors received
blank citations. We had a similar police raid at the same location last week and we feel this is
clear abuse of power. Law enforcement is supposed to fight crime & keep our community
safe. How are raids against low income workers OK? Our community demand to know, who
is organizing these raids and why? We demand answers & ask for all citations to be pardon
and for police intervention against our San Bernardino Day Laborers to stop immediately. Our
work leaders will be contacting you all to request a community meeting regarding this matter.
Thank you.
