Hello, My name is James Albert and I am the appointed commissioner via Councilman Alexander to the city's advisory redistricting commission. Last week the United States Census Bureau released the data from last year's census which enables the phase of redistricting to kickoff the mapmaking process of district boundaries that has federal to local implications for the next decade. Our state independent commission which oversees the State Assembly, State Senate, House of Representatives, and Board of Equalization districts has held two virtual hearings specific to the Inland Empire and is set to hold another virtual one on 8/30 from 4pm-8pm. Please make your appointment to provide testimony as soon as possible as it will reduce your waiting time. https://www.wedrawthelinesca.org/ Our county commission which oversees the map drawing process for the five (5) supervisor districts has started holding hearings throughout the county. For the full schedule and to submit your preferred maps, please visit https://sbcountyredistricting.com/ With the release of the Census data, it's vital we establish a quorum of redistricting commissioners for our city to get to work on this process and engage our fellow residents. I appreciate Councilwoman Calvin in appointing her respective commissioner for Ward 6 and looking forward to working with him. If you're eligible, please consider applying for this commission. Any help from city council, mayor, and city staff in promoting these opportunities, would be greatly appreciated.
