I want to welcome you back to a setting that is open to the public but closed to those
with a immune disabilities that would put them in harms way of COVID 19 Disease.
Since I have ALS, Lou Gehrig it is advisable from my doctor for me to not attend any
public meetings, even though I have been vaccinated. I do not know how many other
citizens in the city that would like to continue to have their comments read to the public
on a recorded voice but I would. This is a request for that accommodation under the
Federal American Disability Act. In this way my wife would not run the risk of attending
your meetings and contracting COVID 19 and bringing it back home.
I noticed you have a full 2000 page agenda tonight with many items for one to comment
on. First, let me commend you for taking action on the NAACP “Call to Action Plan” by
creating a “Diversity Inclusion Officer” Position and I hope you approve it tonight.
According to the duties it will assist you to address some of the racial issues that I have
identified over the past three years. So, please select the right person for the job and do
not get in their way for doing the job.
I noticed all of the lawsuits against the city, especially the mayor. I know that there is
one not listed that involves Quinn Bass concerning Police Abuse that started from a
traffic stop. The NAACP State office has taken a serious interest in this case.
I do have some concerns on the appointments to the Downtown Advisory Committee by
council members and the mayor, for example; the appointment of former city council
member Neil Derry, by the mayor to the committee. According to Neil’s Facebook Page
he now lives in Redlands. While he served on the council we had headlines in the
newspapers that read; Neil Derry charge in corruption case of laundering campaign
contributions through a political action committee, Press Enterprise 4/27/2011. Mayor
Valdivia is hell-bent on keeping the city’s image lined with the reputation of “Pay to Play”
that is in line with his sexual harassment, abusive behavior of employees and corrupt
image.
I did not see this on the agenda but I am concerned about the Rental Assistant Program
money, $6 million, we gave to So Cal United Way. While I am at the money table what is
going on with the money from Washington and Sacramento? Who is charge of the
money you, the city council or the city manager and his staff? This is enough for now,
and please get back with me on my request for accommodation. Thank you for you’re
time and service to the city. Hardy Brown
