Comments Dear Mayor and City Councilmembers; I would like to express my full support for
a citywide warehouse moratorium. Over the past decade, our city has seen a massive increase
of warehouses without the adequate infrastructure and planning needed to protect residents
from diesel truck pollution and noise. Further, these warehouses have not resulted in
meaningful quality job creation. Several studies have shown that warehouse jobs are
predominately low-wage and temporary, leaving many folks living paycheck-to-paycheck.
This is not sustainable. Our city deserves a diversity of jobs that attract and retain youth in our
school district, not hundreds of precarious packing jobs, pollution, and potholes resulting from
thousands of trucks going in and out of our city. We must stop any further warehouse
developments and allow residents to determine future development in the city through the
General Plan Update process. Thank you.
