lives within 500 feet of the proposed million plus square feet industrial warehouse
on 6th St in Highland California. I have some concerns with this proposal:
· In regards to easements, sidewalks, bicycle pathways and green buffer zones between
the perimeters of this project are absent. If this is going to model the Amazon project next
door there is only a sidewalk and some lights were provided on the south side of 3rd St with
the existing water wash in place. No bike paths on the street, no greenery setbacks and no
place to rest if walking in the area, basically I believe the minimum was completed with no
proper buffer zone.
· Traffic is not managed properly and with the addition of the commercial transportation
this project will add what is going to be done to properly manage the influx of commercial
traffic? Currently Commercial Vehicles Park at all times of the day night off and around 3rd,
5th, and 6th St from Sterling to Palm. The debris they leave behind is not safe and is
unsightly.
· Even with expansive mitigation measures, staffers said, the project would result in
“significant and unavoidable environmental effects” from air pollution, greenhouse gas
emissions, noise and transportation for some of the most venerable living within 500 feet of
the proposed project.
· At a minimum there should have been some “pocket parks” for the community and
some proper park wait areas outside of the project walls for the commercial vehicles waiting
to load/unload.
