Hello, I am a professor at Cal State San Bernardino, and many of my students live and work in San Bernardino. I am contacting you regarding the Carousel Mall development. As a person interested in the positive development of the community, I am concerned with the lack of community engagement behind this development. I believe the community deserves a seat at the table to navigate the priorities for the downtown development. I am especially concerned about issues such as the lack of affordable housing, housing for low income and homeless residents, sustainability, and good jobs, all of which must be included in the project. I ask that you show your support for our community by addressing the issues I mentioned above. The city's public monies must go into solving the crisis of unemployment, housing, air pollution, and investment into resources the community has needed for decades. Sincerely, Teresa --- Teresa Velásquez, PhD. Associate Professor of Anthropology California State University, San Bernardino
