Good evening council members,
I am submitting this public comment today in opposition of the proposal to sell the Carousel
small and the land it resides on to out of town private developers. Doing so would be a huge
disservice to the community and a missed opportunity to use the land to meaningfully
benefit our community members. Keeping this land public and utilizing it as a location for
public goods and services is not only the right thing to do but also the necessary thing to do.
The houseless population in San Bernardino is booming, especially in the down town area.
Those that spend time specifically on/near the carousel mall will surely be displaced and
forced out and off of the land if this project moves forward. Is there a plan on getting these
people housed? Or will the development inflict further unnecessary pain upon an already
disenfranchised population? I urge the council members to consider the possibilities of
serving and providing aid to our houseless neighbors and leading the path to healing San
Bernardino. Thank you!
