HomeMy WebLinkAboutHardy Brown - General Public Comments_sanitizedHardy Brown, Publisher Emeritus Black Voice News 10/7/20 Comments for tonight’s city council meeting 909-384-5208 I want to congratulate and welcome our new city Manager Mr. Fields to the city. And say, I stand ready to give you my frank and honest opinions, with the objective of making San Bernardino a financially sound government, for and by the citizens who pay the taxes. I have no other agenda but to do that in this community, regardless to what others say about me to you. On your agenda I read that there are 3 lawsuits against the Mayor filed by former employees on his staff that will add to the taxpayers spending money from his abusive behavior. You also are in Labor negotiations with our employee unions. I urge you to look at conducting a classification compensation study to evaluate the possibility of salary freeze or salary reduction in certain classifications before you conclude any agreements. We need to bring some of our salaries and benefit cost in line with our surrounding communities in the Inland Empire, before we are faced with another bankruptcy situation. We must build our relationships with our county, state and federal elected officials for better laws that favor business and economic development. You are also evaluating how and what to do with written procedures for the public to have a voice in government. What ever you decide make sure that we the public have several ways for our voices to be heard in public and not just on paper for elected officials and staff to read. Last on Measure S oversight committee, make sure it has some authority with its responsibility. But, I urge all citizens to vote NO on Measure S. Thank you for your service and stay safe from COVID 19.
