I would like this statement of mine read at the City Council Meeting. Thank you, Steve Portias -(Notext) e-mail: Living in San Bemardino my entire life growing up where you abide by the laws and rules at home or you would be grounded or spanked, school or you would get a swat with a paddle or detention, and on the street where you didn't even dare to cross a street without a crosswalk or ride a bike without a helmet. Now in this area, you see them selling flowers and goods or asking for money done right under the off -ramp sign that says "No Soliciting", you see people with no permits selling flowers on comers and even in front of legitimate Flower Shops, Taco Stands right on the sidewalks and comer vacant lots that shut down legitimate businesses which pay taxes, permits, overhead, and food safety checks. I put on car shows where we have to have Food Permits, Hot Water, Sink, Hair Covering, Gloves, Fire Extinguishers, and that pay taxes, not like these Taco Stands and Fruit Stands where you have no clue what your buying or eating. We see homeless walking down the streets with stolen $350 shopping carts which add to the cost of our food in the stores. People paying no attention to Fireworks laws of $1000 fines above 30th street. The city says no garage or yard sales except one weekend a month, again people pay no attention to. Stolen Milk and Dairy crates that are embossed right in them $500 fine if caught and nobody cares and again the cost is added to our products these are used for. I realize the Police are busy, but we need to have people out fining these people and supporting our city's remaining businesses and the health of citizens. Bottom line, why even make laws if there no upheld and make our city a better place to live. Steve Portias San Bernardino, California 9/10/20 mac/
