Hi Genoveva,
Please see Comments below for the Appeal on the Plasma Donation Facility. They have send it to the
Council Members, but just want to make sure that you receive it for distribution.

Subject: BIOLIFE-- Council Action October 7 2020-- ITEM 9 FOR PROFIT BIOLIFE BLOOD BANK- DO
NOT PERMIT
Hi Elizabeth,
I just found out that BIOLIFE collects plasma and sends it worldwide to make
medicine. They do not distribute harvested blood LOCALLY OR EVEN
NATIONWIDE. They also developed methods to harvest blood twice a week
(normally once a week) from a donor. What they are doing will hurt the Local, State
and the Country's supply. This is big International Pharma (Japanese owned). I
started my objections for this permit for a CUP for BIOLIFE as an adjacent property
owner concerned with parking . But as more I found my concerns grew as a Citizen
and I am turning into an activist. Our NON PROFIT BLOOD BANKS hands are tided
against this unfair FOR PROFIT competition. BIOLIFE can pay whatever they wish
depleting a local resource, they get free City services (THEY PAY NO SALES TAX)
they provide no contribution to the community under the disguise of "creating jobs"
and "creating revenue for the City by paying donors in community" . They make
huge profits for the pennies they pay to the Communities. I urge the staff to carefully
review this. Please don't hurt this Community. Pause and let this company disclose
what they do and let the Community hear their impacts. Demand/negotiate further
contributions from BIOLIFE to help the City and the Community. Provide help to our
NON PROFIT BLOOD BANKS for their voices be heard and help change regulations
to help them compete to provide for this community and the nation. Thank you.
Regards,
Handan Cirit
