Mr. Mujica –
Good morning. My name is Terry Thompson and I am the Director of Real Estate Services for the
County of San Bernardino.
The reason for my e-mail to you this morning is to let the City of San Bernardino know that the
County is in support of REDA’s proposed project to develop and construct a new 462,000 SF
industrial building on the Mill Street School Site where the County currently has a pre-school
Headstart program. As you may know, this site was owned 50/50 between the City of San
Bernardino and the County of San Bernardino. REDA acquired this land in a land swap type of deal
last year involving and approved by both the City and the County that enables both County’s
Headstart pre-school to relocate to better suited land for its Headstart pre-school program along
Waterman. The deal also involves the Lewis Academy Charter School who the City/County has been
sharing the Mill Street Site location with. Without this exchange deal with REDA, the relocation of
these important school sites would not have been possible.
With this consideration in mind, the County is in support of REDA’s project and encourages the City
of San Bernardino City Council to approve General Plan Amendment 19-03, Development Code
Amendment (Zoning Map Amendment) 19-08, Subdivision 19-16 (Tentative Parcel Map 20189) and
Development Permit Type-D 19-13.
If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you.
Terry
