Hello,
My name is Daniel Gomez I am a resident of San Bernardino addressing Agenda item 6 insupport of our street vendor community. I ask that you do not criminalize street vendorsbut instead invest and create helpful guidelines and resources for vendors to obtainnecessary permits to work. Invest in the infrastructure needed for them to be successful sothey, too, can continue to contribute to our economy. The policy changes you areproposing only further criminalize and do not help vendors acquire the necessarydocuments for their operation and do not help the community of San Bernardino nor itsresidents.
Street vendors are inclusive members of our community. They do not threaten ornegatively impact our communities in any way. It is in fact the opposite. It creates jobs, economic success and contributions, cultural awareness and inclusiveness, and competition. I enjoy seeing street vendors and would like to continue contributing totheir business. We do not need any more liquor stores, fast food chains, wal-marts, buthard working entrepreneurs. These vendors should not be targeted or criminalized. If wewould like to have vendors up to codes and enforcements we should find ways to helpthem and ensure these practices are met without causing financial hardships, criminalization, or possibilities of deportation.
Please continue to support our community,Daniel Gomez
