We at the IEIYC, have worked with various individuals that make up the over 1 million undocumented immigrant community found in both Riverside & San Bernardino County from 2010 till zozo. We continue to educate, empower, & center the voices & needs of our over 30+undocumented youth membership in San Bernardino, who attend Arroyo Valley, Cajon, Middle I ighschool, and other local schools. One of the main issues that have been brought to our attention is that the San Bernardino Police department bas taken the liberty to continue to cite and destroy items from vendors throughout the city of San Bernardino. We at the IEIYC found this to be a disgusting demonstration of abuse of power during a global health crisis and local financial crisis. Yet, we continue to see local community members being criminalized for simply trying to make a living. We understand that you are attempting to keep some sense of normalcy by enforcing these vendor laws and regulations, however, we are not in NORMAL times. We are beyond normal, so I challenge you to continue to lead with care, love, and dignity for all, to reach for something beyond normal so that we may all thrive!! I am requesting that the City Council and staff to work with vendors and Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice before this item gets discussed, you and your staff have not reached out to us regarding these changes and it is necessary you consult with us before changes are made to ensure we are all on the some page about this program moving forward.
