Public comment:
"It is sad to see that only 3% of the city budget goes towards parks and recreation.
That 3% of the budget goes towards community and economic development, and 1%
to the library out of our city’s entire budget. How can our communities thrive if only
7% of the entire budget is set aside for our communities development? This shows a
lack of investment in the people and our wellbeing.
Instead, 63% of the budget funds police. I support public safety, but the answer to
reducing crime is not giving more money to police. Research shows there are more
efficient and successful alternatives. There needs to be more resources for people to
address the variety of needs in our community. I cannot consciously support this
sales tax if the majority of the city's budget is being allocated towards the police
department."
