Hello,
My name is Estefania Solorio. I live and work in the city of San Bernardino. I am writing
today to make my concerns about the 20/21 budget be known.
Upon review of the city’s new budget, I became aware of the discrepancies in the allocation of
city funds. It does not seem fair nor appropriate that over 60 percent of the budget is allocated
to the SBPD. Our community needs resources, services, and programs that assist its members
and allows it to thrive. I am asking that the city’s budget be reassessed and that a fairer and
more equitable distribution of funds be proposed for next year’s budget.
We need more funding in mental health, healthcare, and homeless assistance services,
programs assisting in substance abuse prevention and rehabilitation, affordable housing,
education, climate change mitigation and abatement programs, and initiatives to get more
businesses downtown.
San Bernardino needs help and you need to recognize the issues affecting my community. You
can’t keep expecting the PD to police these problems away, it’s not working. As public elected
officials it is your job to assist and provide the resources this community needs to address and
fix the issues affecting us.
Thank you,
Estefania Solorio
