To the Mayor of San Bernardino, you are a complete disgrace to our city and lack the
leadership needed to truly represent us at any level. We need true leadership from the office
you currently occupy yet abuse it for your personal power drive. The leadership San
Bernardino needs is one managed by knowledge and experience; upholds integrity and
humility; demonstrates empathy and grace towards others. During these trying times, we are
witnessing these qualities manifest themselves by the tremendous will of our residents in
lifting each other and being lights of hope. Health professionals are utilizing their knowledge
and experience to tend to the sick; educators showing their integrity and humility by ensuring
students receive quality education by any means; and numerous non-profit organizations going
beyond the call to help those less fortunate by showing empathy and grace. Yet, from your
office Mayor - only the opposite of these qualities. Corruption, abuse of power, and
negligence are only a few of the words that can best be used to describe your contribution to
our city's history. When I learned that your office was requesting for the citizens of San
Bernardino to pay for legal representation for your horrible actions as a mayor, I was sickened.
There are families that have lost their only income to sustain themselves; parents that don't
know where their next meal for their children will come from; individuals worried if they
could afford the medical bill if they are stricken by COVID. These are the people that you are
asking to pay for your foolish action for being a poor leader. Our city is not poor, we are rich
in people caring for each other; the only poor thing in San Bernardino is its leadership. I urge
for the District Attorney to fully conduct an investigation into the Mayor Office and for the
Mayor to step down immediately from his position so true leadership stands up.
