How important was the grant from SB Fine Arts Commission to the success of your project: The SB City Fine Arts Grant has been critically important to the Teen Music Workshop as it is used almost entirely to provide free classes, lessons and performing arts opportunities to approximately 200 weekly program participants in our Jazz band, show choir, dance groups and classic rock showcase group. In addition, to approximately 20 local shows this year to date, our participants have performed at Disney six times, Knott's two times and five performances at large music festivals throughout Southern California. These performing arts opportunities would not be possible with the support of the SB Fine Arts Commission. 8. What impact (if any) has your project had locally? As stated above, the SB Teen Music Workshop performs at 20 -30 local and charity events each year supporting the City of San Bernardino, SB County Foster Youth, the Annual Disability Expo, Children's Fund, Children's Network and all student's in the SBCUSD. Further, most, if not all, SB Teen Music Workshop participants cannot afford the cost of the free lessons (dance, musical theater, show choir, piano, guitar, voice, drums) and performance opportunities offered by the program. Thus, would not have the opportunity to grow in the performing arts. Please fill in the amount granted and the expenditure figures for your project. FAC Grant Amount $ Expenditures as of this date $ 22,000 Dance and music instructors $13,600 13,600 TOTAL+ 9. Were the aims of your project achieved? What aspects went particularly well, or not so well? The SB Teen Music Workshop continues to grow and a steady rate providing classes and lessons to approximately 200 students per week. This year we have added individual intermediate piano and drum lessons based to the musical growth and demand of our students. This has required the addition of staff and expenditures, but additional grants and community donations have kept pace with the increase staff costs. The workshop continues to stress the provision of free high quality lessons for all SB City teens. We believe we continue to meet the needs of the community while staying true to our vision and goals. If possible, please send a photograph, a program or copies of press articles relating to your project.
