7. How important was the grant from SB Fine Arts Commission to the success of your project?
The grant was very important in being able to provide the dance and music instruction
needed to develop a robust program here at Kimbark. The equipment we were able to
purchase supported a better production quality.
8. What impact (if any) has your project had locally?
Awareness of environmental issues and the need for recycling has been raised in students and families.
9. Please fill in the items paid for and the expenditure figures for your project.
Items Spent for this item
Dance Teacher 178.50
Lighting 1,051.33
Costumes 446.29
Cast Shirts 658.80
Dance Camp 1,050.00
Cast Dinner for performance nights 373.86
TOTAL 3,758,78
Note: Total expended should equal the amount of the grant.
10. Were the aims of your project achieved? What aspects went especially well, or not so well?
The overall aim of the project was achieved. Students were able to perform and share a powerful
message with the community. Our hope to share this with other schools was not able to happen as we
had intended. Students were able to attend dance classes and learn skills in performing. Not all of the
money was spent as we anticipated due to not having the people available to teach the arts skills from
outside the school staff.
11. Were there barriers to fulfilling your goals/aims?
We would have hoped to have more classes available in art and set design but we were not able to find
artists to hire to fill this need. The school funded the staff positions who fulfilled those needs. Our next
years production will use the remaining funds to continue to build the musical program here at Kimbark
Elementary. We are excited to make connections with local artist and share their knowledge with our
students and staff.
Please include the most recent financial report for your organization.
Please send photographs, programs or copies of press releases relating to your project. If you submitted an interim
report, it is not necessary to duplicate any of these materials.
