Miller, Assistant City Manager Subject: Homeless Services Staff Report Recommendation Receive a presentation on the County of San Bernardino's Homeless Services Program and Homeless Partnership, review and discuss the information presented and efforts to address the issue, and provide direction. Background Over the last several months, the Mayor and City Council have discussed issues related to homelessness in the community and strategies utilized to address the growing concerns and requested that a Study Session be scheduled to further explore the issue, obtain information on regional and local efforts, and provide direction. Discussion The County of San Bernardino County initiated the Homeless Partnership to end chronic homelessness and reduce the instance of episodic homelessness in the County of San Bernardino through collaborative partnerships with federal, state, and local governments, social service agencies and community and faith -based organizations. Through the program, services are directed toward reducing and preventing homelessness by providing comprehensive services and resources for homeless persons, and increasing permanent supportive housing opportunities for very low income and long-term homeless persons in order to end homelessness. Attachment 1 is a copy of the County's 10 -Year Strategy to End Homelessness. Representatives of the County's Office of Homeless Services will present information at this evening's meeting on the 10 -Year Strategy to End Homelessness. Fiscal Impact None. Conclusion It is recommended the Mayor and City Council receive a presentation by the County on the Homeless Partnership and the comprehensive programs offered through the Partnership to end homelessness and provide direction.
