RESOLUTION NO. 2017-82
RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO CONDUCT A
PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER THE VACATION OF CENTURY AVENUE
BETWEEN SHOW CASE DRIVE NORTH AND CAMINO REAL AND THE
RESERVATION OF UTILITY EASEMENTS THEREIN
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Mayor and City Council of the City of San Bernardino hereby
declares its intention to conduct a public hearing to consider the vacation of Century Avenue,
described as follows:
THAT PORTION OF CENTURY AVENUE IN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO,
COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AS SHOWN ON
PARCEL MAP NO. 9713, BOOK OF PARCEL MAPS 106, PAGES 91 THROUGH
93, INCLUSIVE, OFFICIAL RECORDS OF SAID COUNTY, DESCRIBED AS
FOLLOWS:
COMMENCING AT THE CENTER LINE INTERSECTION OF CENTURY AVENUE
AND CAMINO REAL AS SHOWN ON SAID PARCEL MAP;
THENCE NORTH 89055'54" WEST ALONG THE CENTER LINE OF CENTURY
AVENUE AS SHOWN ON SAID PARCEL MAP A DISTANCE OF 30.03 FEET TO
THE POINT OF BEGINNING;
THENCE SOUTH 02035'47" WEST PARALLEL TO AND 30.00 FEET DISTANT
FROM SAID CENTER LINE OF CENTURY AVENUE A DISTANCE OF 42.92
FEET TO THE WEST RIGHT-OFWAY OF CAMINO REAL AS SHOWN ON SAID
PARCEL MAP, SAID POINT ALSO BEING THE BEGINNING OF A 20.00 FOOT
RADIUS NON -TANGENT CURVE CONCAVE TO THE SOUTHWEST, THE
RADIAL OF SAID CURVE BEARING SOUTH 87024'13" EAST;
THENCE NORTHWEST ALONG SAID WEST RIGHT-OF-WAY OF CAMINO REAL
AND ALONG SAID CURVE A DISTANCE OF 32.30 FEET THROUGH A
CENTRAL ANGLE OF 92031'41" TO THE SOUTH RIGHT-OF-WAY OF
CENTURY AVENUE AS SHOWN ON SAID PARCEL MAP;
THENCE NORTH 89055'54" WEST ALONG SAID SOUTH RIGHT-OF-WAY OF
CENTURY AVENUE A DISTANCE OF 333.02 FEET TO THE BEGINNING OF A
100.00 FOOT RADIUS TANGENT CURVE CONCAVE TO THE SOUTHEAST;
THENCE SOUTHWEST ALONG SAID SOUTH RIGHT-OF-WAY OF CENTURY
AVENUE AND ALONG SAID CURVE A DISTANCE OF 72.55 FEET THROUGH A
CENTRAL ANGLE OF 41034'07";
THENCE SOUTH 48029'59" WEST ALONG SAID SOUTH RIGHT-OF-WAY OF
CENTURY AVENUE A DISTANCE OF 15.86 FEET TO THE BEGINNING OF A
20.00 FOOT TANGENT CURVE CONCAVE TO THE SOUTHEAST;

THROUGH A CENTRAL ANGLE OF 26000'21" TO THE BEGINNING OF A 20.00
FOOT NON -TANGENT COMPOUND CURVE CONCAVE TO THE NORTH, THE
RADIAL TO SAID CURVE BEARING SOUTH 35028'14" WEST;
THENCE NORTHEASTLY ALONG SAID NORTHEAST RIGHT-OF-WAY OF
SHOW CASE DRIVE AND ALONG SAID CURVE A DISTANCE OF 26.87 FEET
THROUGH A CENTRAL ANGLE OF 76058'15" TO THE NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY
OF CENTURY AVENUE AS SHOWN ON SAID PARCEL MAP;
THENCE NORTH 48029'59" EAST ALONG SAID NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY OF
CENTURY AVENUE A DISTANCE OF 15.90 FEET TO THE BEGINNING OF A
150.00 FOOT RADIUS TANGENT CURVE CONCAVE TO THE SOUTH;
THENCE ALONG SAID NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY OF CENTURY AVENUE AND
SAID CURVE A DISTACE OF 108.83 FEET THROUGH A CENTRAL ANGLE OF
41°34'07";
THENCE SOUTH 89055'54" EAST ALONG SAID NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY OF
CENTURY AVENUE A DISTANCE OF 340.98 FEET TO THE BEGINNING OF A
15.00 FOOT RADIUS TANGENT CURVE CONCAVE TO THE NORTHWEST;
THENCE NORTHEASTERLY ALONG SAID NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY OF
CENTURY AVENUE AND SAID CURVE A DISTANCE OF 23.36 FEET
THROUGH A CENTRAL ANGLE OF 89013'00" TO THE WEST RIGHT-OF-WAY
OF CAMINO REAL AS SHOWN ON SAID PARCEL MAP, SAID POINT ALSO
BEING THE BEGINNING OF A 1966.46 FOOT RADIUS NON -TANGENT
COMPOUND COURVE CONCAVE TO THE WEST, THE RADIAL TO SAID
CURVE BEARING SOUTH 89008'54" EAST;
THENCE SOUTHERLY ALONG SAID CURVE AND PARALLEL TO THE
CENTERLINE OF CAMINO REAL AS SHOWN ON SAID PARCEL MAP A
DISTANCE OF 39.45 FEET THROUGH A CENTRAL ANGLE OF 01008'58';
THENCE SOUTH 02035'47" WEST A DISTANCE OF 3.36 FEET TO THE POINT OF
BEGINNING.
SECTION 2. The Mayor and City Council, in vacating the above described portion
of said street, elects to proceed under and in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 3 of
the "Public Streets, Highways, and Service Easements Vacation Law", being Division 9, Part
3 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California.

SECTION 3. The hour of 5:00 p.m. on June 21St, 2017 in the Third Floor Board
Room, 201 North "E" Street, San Bernardino, California, is fixed as the time and place when
and where all persons interested in or objecting to the proposed vacation may appear before
the said Mayor and City Council and offer evidence in relation thereto. For further particulars
as to the proposed vacation, reference is made to that map marked "Plan No. 13093",
approved on 1/9/2017, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City.
SECTION 4. Nothing in this Resolution shall in any way affect or disturb any
existing easements for public utility purposes belonging either to the City of San Bernardino
or to any public utility. Reservation of easements are made in accordance with the provisions
of Division 9, Part 3, Chapter 5, Article 1 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of
California, as specifically set forth:
1. There is hereby specifically reserved for the CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, an
easement for storm drain, sanitary sewer, and appurtenance facilities over the entire area
proposed to be vacated including the right to construct, maintain, operate, replace and
renew said storm drain, sewer or appurtenances including the right of ingress and egress
thereto, as well as an easement for water utility purposes over the entire area proposed to
be vacated, including the right at any time, or from time to time, to construct, maintain,
operate, replace and renew one or more pipelines or appurtenances thereto for the
transportation of water, including the right of ingress and egress thereto.
2. There is hereby specifically reserved for SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON,
its successors, heirs and assigns, an easement over the entire area proposed to be vacated,
with the necessary rights to use, maintain, operate, repair, replace, remove, or renew
existing underground facilities used and useful for the Transmission/Distribution of electric
energy and for the transmitting intelligence by electric means to the public and necessary

fixtures and appurtenances and said easement shall include rights of ingress and egress
thereto.
3. There is hereby specifically reserved for SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA GAS
COMPANY, its successors, heirs and assigns, an easement in, upon, over, and across the
entire area proposed to be vacated, to construct, place, operate, inspect, maintain, enlarge,
repair, replace and remove any existing and future facilities, and necessary fixtures and
appurtenances and said easement shall include rights of ingress and egress thereto.
SECTION 5. The Director of Public Works of the City of San Bernardino hereby is
directed to cause Notices of Street Vacation to be posted as required by said "Public Street,
Highways and Service Easements Vacation Law."
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution of
Intention and shall cause the same to be published once a week for two successive weeks in
The Sun, a newspaper published and circulated in the City of San Bernardino, prior to the
above date set forth for the public hearing.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the Mayor
and City Council of the City of San Bernardino at a Joint Regular Meeting thereof, held on the
15th day of May 2017, by the following vote, to wit:
