SABRINA VELARDE
STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Senior — Arroyo Valley High School
Sabrina Velarde is a lifetime resident of San Bernardino and is the
daughter of Jose Velarde and Mary Zimmerman. She attended Ramona-
Alessandro Elementary School and several middle schools, including
Richard PREP Hi, Arrowview as well as home schooling. This year,
Sabrina will graduate from Arroyo Valley High School where she
currently holds a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 3.9.
Sabrina's guardians are her grandparents Evangelina and Francisco
Fernandez as well as her Aunt Angie Fernandez. She has three brothers
Jason Velarde, a 4th grader, Jacob, a 2nd grader, and Johnny, a 1St grader
who attend Ramona-Alessandro Elementary School.
Sabrina's favorite subject is Math and she is also enrolled in one
Advanced Placement class, Human Geography. With a heavy schedule,
she finds time to participate in school activities. She is a cheerleader,
Vice President of the CORE Academy and president of the Alive Club.
Even though she has not received acceptance yet, Sabrina plans to attend
University of California, Irvine where she will major in Criminal Justice.
Sabrina's message to all students, especially those at her school, is
to get an education so you will not become a negative statistic. Learn to
be the change and motivate others to do the right thing.
