FAC Communications Committee
Meeting - -- September 1, 2015
Present: Barbara Babcock, Michael Segura, Dorothy Garcia
We discussed the following:
Social Media
Continue using Facebook with Michael and Barbara as co- administrators. Will post arts events
in the area, and some projects of the Arts Commission.
Talk to Diane Grant about using Google calendar for some of our communications — Michael to
do this
Set up a website, which lists our agenda items as well as information about the Commission —
link to Facebook. Michael will do this.
Possible use of Twitter — Barbara will explore this possibility
Print Media
We looked at the list of newspapers and contacts, and added some. Suggest that a template be
devised for press releases. Ask Gigi to design the template. Publicity for events sponsored by
the Commission would be handled by the commissioner in charge of that event.
Public Announcemnts
Contact IEMG re: providing a "snippet" about FAC to be aired on Channel 3. Michael will do this.
Also will contact our grantees to film the programs for which they are funded, and show these
on Channel 3. Need to find out if Alex , or some of Diane Dusick's students could do this.
Michael will contact Alex. Dotti will contact Diane.
Only make announcements at Council meetings when there is an event, etc. Assignments for
the spokesperson will be made at our meetings or by the chair.
Dotti or whomever is attending the Service Council will make announcements there.
Make ourselves available to speak at service clubs and other organizations.
KVCarts will be contacted with events. Michael Fleming is already on the calendar list. Dotti will
do this.
Monthly Calendar
We discussed the current list of recipients, and added some such as Associated Students at
SBVC, the Art Institute, and Cal State Associated Students. Several faculty members at Cal State
already receive the calendar: Margaret Perry, Kathryn Ervin, Juan Delgado, Tom Mcgovern, Stacy
Fraser, RAFFMA
Barbara will explore through Channels 24 and 28 the documentary which was filmed at the California
Theatre last year, and find out if it could be played in another location.
