HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-4591 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 82-459 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO ESTABLISHING A COMMITTEE TO BE KNOWN AS THE VERDEMONT AREA ADVISORY COMMITTEE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY -OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. A Verdemont Area Advisory Committee consisting of seven members is hereby established, to be comprised of residential owner occupants, residential tenants, residents of nearby areas, businessmen interested in the area being studied, and members of existing organizations located within or having substantial interest in the area being studied. Members shall be appointed by the Council member for the Fifth Ward with the approval of the Mayor and Common Council. Members shall receive no compensation for service on this committee. SECTION 2. The Verdemont Area Advisory Committee shall study and make recommendations to the Mayor and Common Council concerning the future development of the Verdemont area, which is defined as follows: The area generally described as the extreme northwest portion of the City of San Bernardino, lying east of the Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way and north and west of the State College Redevelopment Project Area. The area to be studied is outlined on the "Vicinity Map" which is annexed hereto as Exhibit I and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 3. The goal and objectives of the Verdemont Area Advisory Committee shall be to make nonbinding recommendations to the Mayor and Common Council as to the manner in which the natural features and existing facilities of the Verdemont area can best be utilized through industrial development, residential development, commercial development, or any combination thereof, alternative 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 land use plans,.and any other appropriate uses which should be made of that area for the common good of the City of San Bernardino and of the residents and persons interested in the area being studied. Recommendations shall include suggested priorities for development of streets and highways, community facilities, public utilities, private and public developments, and other matters of concern. SECTION 4. The Mayor and Common Council determine that the members of the Verdemont Area Advisory Committee are not "public officials" within the meaning of the Fair Political Practices Act, Government Code Section 87100, et seq., and that no statement of economic interest shall be required from any member of such advisory committee. SECTION 5. The Verdemont Area Advisory Committee is authorized to call upon the expertise and experience of the staff of the Planning Department, Building and Safety Department, and other interested departments and agencies of the City of San (Bernardino, and is urged to work in concert with the officials of the Redevelopment Agency of the City of San Bernardino as a potential redevelopment project area, as a possible community development study area, and to assist in assuring compatibility with the State College Redevelopment Project adjacent thereto. SECTION 6. The Verdemont Area Advisory Committee shall prepare and provide to the Mayor and Common Council, periodically, such reports as the committee may deem appropriate, making such recommendations to the Mayor and Common Council as the committee may deem appropriate.
