HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-4681 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 3 --463 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER TO FILE A FUEL EFFICIENT TRAFFIC SIGNAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM GRANT APPLICATION FOR $75,509 OF FUNDS APPORTIONED FOR FISCAL YEAR 82/83 TO THE CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION BY THE STATE LEGISLATURE. WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino recognizes that it is in the best interest of the national economy to promote the conservation of energy resources and to reduce our nation's dependence on costly foreign oil; and WHEREAS, a fuel efficient traffic signal management program by the City of San Bernardino will provide benefits to the local community in the form of improved traffic flow, reduced fuel consumption, reduced fuel operating costs, reduced air pollution and improve safety due to smoother flow; and WHEREAS, funds have been established and are available through the California Energy Commission for grants to local governments for efficient traffic signal management projects; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS; 1. That the Director of Public Works/City Engineer be authorized to submit a Fuel Efficient Traffic Signal Management Program Grant Application with the California Energy Commission for $75,509 of funds apportioned for fiscal year 82/83 by the State Legislature. 2. That the Director of Public Works/City Engineer be authorized to select a private consulting firm to provide computer/engineering services for this project upon approval of the grant application. 3. That all Fuel Efficient Traffic Signal Management Program Grant Funds disbursed to the City of -San Bernardino be utilized to run the Transyt computor program, implement the resultant signal timing and provide before and after delay studies through the services of a Consulting Engineering Firm for the Central Business District, Highland Avenue, Baseline Street and Waterman Avenue traffic signal innerconnect systems.
