MINUTES FOR THURSDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2015

Meeting called to order by Chairperson Garcia on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 4:04 p.m. in the
4th Floor Conference Room of City Hall.
COMMISSIONER/STAFF ANNOUNCMENTS
Chairperson Garcia stated that she received an email from Laura Lucas, Reporter for the Press
Enterprise asking if any artists were organizing personal or private tributes in honor of the San
Bernardino shooting victims.
City Clerk Hanna stated that Rory Murray wrote a song specific to the victims and asked
Chairperson Garcia to notify Ms. Lucas.
City Clerk Hanna reminded FAC commissioners that the Commissioner Year -End Party was on
Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Mitlas Cafd.
City Clerk Hanna announced that there were memorial sheets for the Memorial book throughout
the City for people to sign. The locations were as follows: City Hall Lobby, San Bernardino
City Unified School District, Cal State University, San Bernardino Phau Library, and the San
Bernardino Chamber of Commerce.

GUEST SPEAKERS
Mark Persico, Director of Community Development gave an update on the upcoming Art Fest of
May 19, 2015. Mr. Persico provided a Map of the Art Locations for the Downtown Art Fest
2016. He stated that this event would go to the Mayor and Common Council in January 2016 for
approval.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Commissioner Bunger to approve the Minutes of October 29, 2015. The
motion was seconded by Commissioner Howard. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Commissioner Segura to approve the Minutes of November 10, 2015.
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Bunger. Motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS
FAC 15 -16 Budget Allocation
City Clerk Hanna gave a report on the funds available for fiscal year 2015/2016. She stated that
$333,037.00 was the year to date transactions, which included the adopted $200,000 from before,
plus the budget amendment of $264,086 which was approved by the Council approved in
October, and the transactions of $131,049.00. She indicated that the $60,000.00 grant for Parks
and Recreation was not included in that amount. She stated that the Parks, Recreation, and
Community Services would need to send in their invoices to be reimbursed per the City's
Finance Department.
Letter from NSAA Charter School
Chairperson Garcia read letter from the Norton Space Aeronautics Academy regarding upcoming
events and classes.
OLD BUSINESS
Grants
A motion was made by Commissioner Babcock to cap the FY 2015/2016 grant allocation to
$200,000. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Howard. Motion passed by vote of 4 -2.

Art Walk
An update was given by Mark Persico, Director of Community Development.
December Calendar
Chairperson Garcia pointed out the RAFFMA exhibition at Cal State University. She stated that
it was an exhibition of photography focused on the Inland Empire and recommended that the
FAC commissioners attend.

ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m. on December 8, 2015. The next Fine Arts Commission
meeting will be on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.., in the MIC Conference Room, 6th
Floor of San Bernardino City Hall.
