CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
A request was received from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians to vacate a portion of Victoria Avenue,
North of Piedmont Drive. All but one parcel of land adjoining the proposed vacation is owned by the San
Manuel Indians. A right of egress and ingress will be reserved for this parcel.
Authorization to proceed was granted on July 15, 1996 and Plan No. 9513 was approved, showing the proposed
vacation. All City Departments and effected utilities were notified of the proposal and given an opportunity to
respond. A summary of their responses is shown on the attached table. Easements will be reserved for all
utilities having existing facilities within the proposed vacation area.
The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is federalizing all their property in this area and requested this
vacation for security reasons. Since this portion of Victoria only serves as access to the San Manuel Indian's
property, this vacation would allow them better control over access. The petitioner has paid the required $1,000
street vacation processing fee.
The attached resolution sets a public hearing for January 13, 1997, which will be published in the newspaper
and Notices will be posted nit the area proposed for vacation.
We recommend the attached resolution be adopted.
