EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION AWARDS:
MID-MANAGEMENT CATEGORY
a) Don Johnson, Equipment Mechanic Supervisor, Public
Services/Garage, has provided valuable leadership to a team,
which prior to his supervision, was suffering from low morale,
lack of motivation, and poor overall performance. Through his
organizational skills, leadership, dedication and enthusiasm,
he has been successful in creating a work environment where
communication, creativity, mutual respect, and pride in their
work abound. His subordinates are noticeably happier and the
overall performance of the shop has greatly improved.
SAFETY CATEGORY
b) Jon Waterhouse, Detective, Police Department, was assigned a
double homicide, where there was little evidence, no
witnesses, and the bodies, having been doused with gasoline
and set on fire, could not be identified for days. The case
would still be unsolved had it not been for Detective
Waterhouse' s diligence, and tenacity. In addition to carrying
a heavy workload, Jon kept working on this case for
approximately eight (8) months which resulted in the arrest of
four persons, arrest warrants for two more, and finding the
original scene of the crime. Jon is an example of true
dedication and commitment to the police department.
GENERAL CATEGORY
C) Chad Lynde (pronounced Lin-Dee) , Animal Shelter Attendant,
Animal Control Department, also performs the duties of
Volunteer Coordinator and Trainer, Summer Youth and Probation
Supervisor, Building Maintenance worker "extraordinaire" and
Disaster Preparedness and Response Team member. When Chad was
hired in 1989, he took it upon himself to fix things in need
of repair - be it equipment or the facility. He works long
and hard hours without complaint and he fixes almost
everything that needs repair. By voluntarily doing so, Chad
has saved the city thousands of dollars in building and
equipment repair costs. Chad is a dedicated and loyal
employee who truly merits this recognition.
