The Camp Fire Boys and Girls, San Andreas Council is sponsoring a special fund raising jog-a-thon at Seccombe Lake Park. The fee for use of the facilities and equipment for this event is $ 580. The San Andreas Council has requested that the fees be waived. (Please see the attached letter from the Program Director, Paula Miller. ) Resolution No. 91-35 allows the Mayor and the Common Council to exempt non-profit corporations and associations organized primarily for patriotic, civic betterment or charitable purposes from the rates and fee schedules for use of parks and recreation facilities, services and equipment under the condition that paying the fees would create a hardship or if the event is of unusual benefit to the citizens of San Bernardino. The Camp Fire Boys and Girls Council is a non-profit organization. The planned event will raise funds to continue to provide their programs which provide positive experiences for the youths of San Bernardino. Therefore, they do meet the qualification for having the fees for the use of facilities and equipment waived in the interest of providing a positive activity to youths in our community. camp fire/waive fees 2/10/94 amt '5-0264 Camp Fire San Andreas Council February 9, 1994 Today's The Honorable Tom Minor, Mayor and Camp Fire for the Common Council of the City of San Bernardino Today's Kids 300 North "D" Street San Bernardino, CA 92401 Dear Mayor Minor and Council Members: The San Andreas Council of Camp Fire Boys and Girls is a non- profit organization. Since 1939, we have been serving the youth of San Ber- nardino and Riverside County. The purpose of Camp Fire is to provide opportunities for youth to realize their potential and to seek to im- prove those conditions in society which affect youth. Each year, the Council conducts various fundraisers to help to con- tinue to provide the Camp Fire experience to the youth of our com- munities. One of the fundraisers held annually is our FUN RUN. This event is a run, walk or jog around a 220 yard track. Pledges are made per lap or by a flat pledge. The 1994 FUN RUN is being held at Sec- combe Lake Park on May 21, 1994. Camp Fire Boys and Girls is requesting your assistance in a waiver of the usage fee for Seccombe Lake Park from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Your assistance in providing the organization this waiver will help to defray some of the cost involved in this fundraiser.
