This request was made because of the calls thev have received to respond to traffic accidents in this area. An evaluation of this intersection was accordingly done by our Traffic Engineering Section. This intersection is presently controlled by stop signs on the Palm Avenue/Institution Road approaches. The evaluation revealed that a four-way stop is warranted. Due to the isolated nature of this intersection, and the high speed approaches, it was deemed necessary to supplement the stop signs with flashing red beacons on all four approaches. One street light is presently provided at this inter- section. The evaluation found that additional lighting should be provided. Therefore, a request will be submitted to Edison for an additional street light to be installed on an existing wood utility pole. The recommendation for a four-way stop, supplemented by flashing beacons, was reviewed by the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee at their meeting of 11-10-93. After reviewing the evaluation prepared by the Traffic Engineering Section, the Committee adopted a motion that the recommendation be approved. We recommend that the four-way stop be approved. 1-26-94 -0264 c NORTH IK S 0 o. I RESOLUTION NO. i 2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 655 ENTITLED, IN PART, "A RESOLUTION. 3 DESIGNATING CERTAIN STREETS OR PORTIONS THEREOF AS THROUGH HIGHWAYS. . . ; " AND AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF A FOUR-WAY 4 STOP AT THE INTERSECTION OF CAJON BOULEVARD AND PALM AVENUE/INSTITUTION ROAD. 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE 6 CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, AS FOLLOWS: 7 SECTION 1 : Resolution No. 655 , which designates certain 8 streets or portions thereof as through highways, Section 1 , is 9 amended by adding Subsection 13 . 7A PALM AVENUE (VERDEMONT) , to 10 read as follows: 11 "13. 7A PALM AVENUE (VERDEMONT) 12 From and including Cajon Boulevard to and including 13 Verdemont Drive.
