Agenda Item No.-2!Y 4/or CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT BACKGROUND Fresh Paint is the current maintenance painting vendor to the City Of San Bernardino. The City annually spends $24,000 for maintenance painting on City buildings. This fiscal year has had some major expenses occur due to the El Nino rains,which caused water damage at a number of sites. Facilities Management requests that this contract be increased by $8,000 to cover painting expenses for the rest of the fiscal year. FINANCIAL IMPACT The funds are available due to a deferment of maintenance to HVAC equipment due to the cool weather. Generally, Facilities Management starts up air conditioning equipment in May to cool buildings throughout the City. This year, many sites are still operating without air conditioning due to the cool weather.The savings are from not doing service calls and maintenance to these units. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the Council approve the increase to the annual purchase order to Fresh Paint for Building Maintenance. James Sharer Facilities Manager I Resolution No. ca[pv 2 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF SAN 3 BERNARDINO AWARDING AN INCREASE TO THE ANNUAL PURCHASE ORDER TO FRESH PAINT FOR MAINTENANCE SERVICES TO BE UTILIZED BY 4 THE FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT. 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE 6 CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 7 8 SECTION 1. Fresh Paint provides maintenance painting service to the City Of San 9 Bernardino for all locations for the total amount of$24,500 for Fiscal Year 97-98. The Finance 10 Department is hereby authorized and directed to increase the annual purchase order by$8,000 for 11 12 maintenance painting work to Fresh Paint for the period ending June 30, 1998. 13 14 SECTION 2.
