Professional Experience
Interim Dean, Instructional Operations, San Bernardino Valley College. July 1997- Present. Provide
leadership and direction to the Instructional Division Deans in the areas of schedule development, enrollment
management, faculty load, department chair compensation and other areas formerly assigned to the Vice
President of instruction. Serve as Co-Chair of the Curriculum Committee and the College Planning/Program
Review Committee. Provide support to the Interim Executive Vice President in the areas of planning,
budgeting, publicity and guidance for the instructional program.
Major Accomplishments to date:
• Revised the information pages for the Spring 1998 schedule of classes to clarify for a potential
student the steps involved in enrolling in the college and to make-better utilization of this college
document as an information resource and marketing tool.
• Developed and promoted a proposal for the standardization of Spring 1998 section offerings into

three primary sessions, providing a sharper focus for the campus late-start program and minimizing
student schedule conflicts.
• Worked with the Instruction Office staff and the Interim Executive Vice President to make more
effective use of existing support staff and to prepare for the addition of one recently-approved
secretary.
+ Provided guidance and assistance to the Co-Chairs of the "Task Force 400" leaders in the
development of their preliminary mission statement and planning document.
• Worked collaboratively with Academic Senate and Professional Development leadership to design
a series of orientation workshops for new faculty and for department heads.
Division Dean, Learning Resources, San Bernardino Valley College. July 1983 - Present. Provide
leadership for the college's Learning Resources program, including both the day and evening services of the
Library,the Audiovisual Department,the Learning Center,the Open Computer Lab,and the Tutorial program.
Coordinate the scheduling and maintenance of three multi-disciplinary computer classrooms. Meet regularly
with department heads, faculty and staff. Supervise and evaluate contract librarians, hourly librarians and
instructors, and classified employees.
Major Accomplishments to date:
• Designed and implemented a new college planning and program review process that allows the entire
campus to be looked at each year. Continue to be responsible for chairing the Planning Council and
for facilitating the timely completion of plans by all units of the college.
• Co-chaired the College Reorganization Committee,working through a shared governance process
to design a model to streamline campus administrative operations while improving the continuity of
service to evening students.
s Revitalized the Learning Center, moving it away from its limited role as a Reading Department
Laboratory to its present expanded role as the multi-media hub of the campus.
• Automated the library,developing and implementing an in-house plan to convert bibliographic records
to tape,designing the RFP and working with the district to select the vendor, establishing circulation
parameters on the automated system,and developing training tools for library staff. use of the library
automation software will soon be extended to include circulation functions in the Learning Center.
• Developed a highly enrolled and successful Library Technology Certificate Program, designing the
curriculum, hiring hourly faculty from within the local library community, teaching the introductory
course in the sequence and serving as advisor to all program students,
• Worked proactively to improve campus racial climate: produced seven videotapes addressing
diversity awareness issues; worked through the Staff Development Committee to fund a campus
diversity retreat and a women's leadership skills retreat.
• Produced all major Learning Resources program publications, including the student library orientation
handbook, the self-paced library skills workbook and a monthly newsletter.
0 Authored a script that dramatized the history of the college through the voices of its students over a
sixty-five year timespan. This script was later presented as a readers' theater production at the
college's anniversary dinner..
