STAFF REPORT
Request Adoption of Ordinance to Amend
Chapter 15.16 of the San Bernardino Municipal Code to
Adopt the 1994 Uniform Fire Code
PURPOSE
The San Bernardino City Fire Department is requesting to amend chapter 15.16 of the
San Bernardino Municipal Code to adopt the Uniform Fire Code (1994) together with
the California Code of Regulations (1995 edition), Title 24, Part 9, and Appendices
I-A, I-B, 1-C, II-A, II-B, II-D, II-E, II-F, II-G, 11-H, II-I, III-A, III-AA, III-B, III-BB, III-C, III-D,
IV-A, IV-B, V-A, VI-A, VI-B, VI-C, VI-D, VI-E, VI-F, V-G inclusive, and the Uniform Fire
Code Standard (1994 edition).
BACKGROUND
The Fire Codes are updated every three years with recent changes incorporated. This
version also includes a completely revamped numbering system. This adoption will
keep our code numbering system consistent with the State of California as well as
other local fire agencies.
The adoption of the 1994 Uniform Fire Codes is an integral part of the Fire
Department Fire Prevention Program. This adoption will bring our Municipal Codes up
to date with the numbering changes that have occurred with State of California in the
1994 Fire Codes and the 1995 California Code of Regulations.
