Finance• Council Notes: Res 96-d�7 1 '/^ l q q 75-0262 Agenda Item No. aq CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT PROBLEM The San Bernardino Police Department is authorized to access the National and California Law Enforcement Telecommunication Systems (NLETS & CLETS) through the County of San Bernardino' s message switch. The County of San Bernardino also maintains various regional criminal justice information systems that are accessed through the Sheriff' s Department Central Name Index (CNI) . Equipment and user access fees during FY 96/97 for NLETS/CLETS are $615 . 60 per month totaling $7, 387 . 20; and $1, 786 . 00 per month totaling $21, 432 . 00 for CNI . The combined total in fees for FY 96/97 is $28 , 819 . 20 . RECOMMENDATION Adopt the resolution authorizing execution of the both contracts . FINDINGS Access to NLETS and CLETS is essential to obtain criminal offender records and other criminal justice information from national and state computer systems including data files such as the FBI, NCIC, DMV and Stolen Vehicle Systems . Additional regional criminal justice information is available through the County of San Bernardino CNI system including all local warrant information and court calendar information. This is the City' s third contract for NLETS/CLETS service, and second contract for CNI service . Both contracts were executed on 11/21/95 for FY 95/96 . Previous fees for NLETS/CLETS totaled $6 , 689 . 98, and CNI $25, 584 . 00 . The combined total for these two contracts in FY 95/96 was $32 , 273 . 98 . The attached contracts represent fees for equipment and expected user transactions for FY 96/97 .
