BACKGROUND
At the Community Development Commission meeting of December 7, 1992, the Commission approved
Scenario"C"for the development of a new Central Police Facility adjacent to 701 North"E" Street. At this
meeting, staff was given the direction to enter into professional agreements as necessary to complete the
design of the facility and the development of final construction documents. This direction to staff was further
specified in a memorandum, dated April 19, 1993,from Mayor Holcomb to the Executive Director of the
Development Department. In accordance with this direction, staff enlisted Geotechnical Professionals, In.,
and Integra Engineering,Inc.,to provide needed geotechnical and engineering services, respectively.
At that time, it was recognized that complete contractual agreements for the duration of the project could not
be entered into with several of the project consultants due to the"fast track"development of this project and
also because the construction management method of construction utilized on this project essentially started
construction before the design was 100%complete. As a result of this situation, it was anticipated that staff
would return to the Commission with revised figures for the various consultant agreements necessary to
complete the project in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner.
CURRENT ACTION/REQUIRED SERVICES
The current action requested, if approved, will provide staff with the required services necessary to complete
the geotechnical and engineering portions of the project. The breakdown of the proposed services to be
included in each agreement, and their costs, are as follows:
