IDINO - REQUEST P I COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT A request was received from a citizen for a 4-wale stop to be installed at the intersection of 27th Street and "H" Street. Based on an investigation conducted by the Traffic Engineering Staff, and an evaluation by the Traffic Safety Committee , it is recommended that the request for a 4-way stop be denied, but that the existing 2-way stop be reversed, from "H" Street to 27th Street, so that instead of stopping "H" Street traffic, 27th Street traffic will stop. This recommendation is based upon the following items - 0 27th Street carries approximately 27% more vehicles than "H" Street. ° "H" Street feeds an increasing number of traffic from the nearby Route 30 freeway ° Intersection does not meet warrants for a 4-w,-117 stop The major reason for recommending stop sign reversal is that the major street ( "H" Street) current]-V stops fnr the miner street (27th Street) . Additionally, "H" Street has a. potential for much higher traffic in the future since it leads directly into the Route 30 on and off ramps . y To minimize potential confusion over the reversing action, temporary flashing beacons will be installed on the approaches to the "New" stop signs for a minimum of 2 weeks. Additionally, "Cross Traffic Does Not Stop" signs will also be installed. We recommend that the recommendation to stop 27th street, in lieu of "H" Street, be approved. 1-7-94 '5-0264 T EX ISTING cTOP 'ivN O 5 PROPOSED STOP SIGN NORTH 1 28TH ST LOCH;ION F F ROPO E F-EER T 2 T ST i i 26TH ST t r i 25TH ST C/) 0) L f N - U) 4 24TH ST Cn r r 1 23RD ST r 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 655 ENTITLED, IN PART, "A RESOLUTION. 3 DESIGNATING CERTAIN STREETS OR PORTIONS THEREOF AS THROUGH HIGHWAYS . . . ; " AND AUTHORIZING THE REVERSAL OF THE TWO-WAY STOP 4 AT THE INTERSECTION OF TWENTY-SEVENTH STREET AND "H" STREET. 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE 6 CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, AS FOLLOWS: 7 SECTION 1 : Resolution No. 655 , which designates certain 8 streets or portions thereof as through highways, Section 1 , is 9 amended by adding Subsection 20 to read as follows : "20 TWENTY-SEVENTH STREET 10 11 California Street to Medical Center Drive, from and 12 including Little Mountain Drive to 'G' Street, excepting 'H' Street 13 14 ARROWHEAD AVENUE to WATERMAN AVENUE 15 at its intersection with Harrison Street.
