the low bid price of $125 , 000 .
09-21-92 -- Resolution No. 92-384 adopted, authorizing execution
of an Agreement with Gary Brauer for construction in-
spection services.
02-15-93 -- Resolution No. 93- 30 adopted authorizing execution of
Program Supplement No. 74 .
Recommended motion:
That Change Order No. ONE to the contract with DBX, Inc. , for the
Traffic Signal Modifications and Interconnect on Mt. Vernon Avenue,
from 5th Street to Base Line Street, in accordance with Plan No.
8135 , be approved; to authorize the Contractor to install addition-
al traffic signalization equipment at the intersection of Mt.
Vernon Avenue and 6th Street, at an estimated increase in the
contract price of $15 , 000 . 00; from $125 , 000 . 00 to $140 , 000 . 00 .

STAFF REPORT
During the installation of the Traffic Signal interconnect
system at Mt. Vernon Avenue and 6th Street, two of the existing
traffic signal poles were found to be badly deteriorated, and in
need of replacement. Caltrans personnel were present and con-
curred with the City as to the need to replace the two poles .
The City suggested that since the contractor was performing work
at the intersection, that all four poles be removed and replaced,
which would completely modernize the signal equipment at this
intersection.
The delivery date of the new traffic signal poles would
have delayed the project by several months . Therefore, it was
suggested that the contractor could use materials already in
stock at the City Yard, and replace the material that was used.
This extra work will be performed on a time and material
basis. It is estimated that the total cost will be approximately
$15 , 000 . 00 .
The total estimated project cost, based upon the actual
low bid price, contained an amount of $22 , 000 for contingencies,
which can be used to finance the cost of this change order. All
costs incurred for Change Order No. One will be provided from
Federal-Aid Urban Funds .
We recommend that Contract Change Order No. 1 be approved.

You are hereby directed to make the herein described changes from the plans and
specifications or do the following described work not included in the plans and
specifications on this contract. NOTE: This change order is not effective until
approved by the State Highway Engineer
Description of work to be done, estimate of quantities, and prices to be paid.
Segregate between additional work at contract price, agreed price and force
account. Unless otherwise stated, rates for rental of equipment cover only such
time as equipment is actually used and no allowance will be made for idle time
The last percentage shown is not accumulated increase of decrease from the
original quantity in the Engineers Estimate.
EXTRA WORK AT AN AGREED PRICE:
Remove and replace the existing traffic signal poles and accessories at the
intersection of 6th and Mt. Vernon Avenue, as directed by the Resident Engineer,
at the estimated cost of $15, 000. 00
ESTIMATED COST DECREASE $ INCREASE $ 8,558.55

We the undersigned contractor, have given careful consideration to the change
proposed and hereby agree, if this proposal is approved, that we will provide all
equipment, furnish all material, except as may otherwise be noted above, and
perform all services necessary for the work above specified, and will accept as
full payment therefor the prices shown above.
