We are encouraging each valley city in San Bernardino County to adopt a similar resolution and then presenting it to the Supervising Juvenile Court Judge, Jim Edwards. If you have any questions concerning this Resolution, please don't hesitate calling me at (909) 797-2489 ext.226 . ?Sinc ely, n Tooker y Manager qV 34272 YUCAIPA BLVD., YUCAIPA, CA 92399 PHONE (909) 797-2489 • FAX (909) 790-9203 `° �.d R°CV"IPn Pa�— I RESOLUTION 2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO ENCOURAGING THE 3 IMPOSITION OF MAXIMUM SENTENCES FOR OFFENSES RELATING TO GRAFFITI AND VANDALISM. 4 WHEREAS, the proliferation of graffiti and juvenile vandalism has escalated in recent 5 6 times, and 7 WHEREAS, such graffiti has proven detrimental to the aesthetic, social, environmental g and economic fabric of the community, and 9 WHEREAS, studies have shown a correlation between the presence of graffiti and 10 potential increased criminal activity, and 11 WHEREAS, the City Council is responsible for the conveyance of the concerns of the 12 13 residents of the City of San Bernardino in regards to such graffiti, and 14 WHEREAS, we have been advised that the court has not been imposing the maximum 15 Penalties available for such crimes, including: loss of a driver's license for up to one year; 16 requiring 360 hours of community service; and/or the maximum fine allowed by law. 17 NOW , THEREFORE the City Council, of the City of San Bernardino resolves as follows: 18 SECTION 1.
