Justification for the Request
This is a new position within the Building & Safety division of Community Development. The
position was approved at the Mayor and Common Council meeting of December 8, 2015 to
specifically hire an in-house Chief Building Official/Building & Safety Division Manager. The
Chief Building Official will plan, manage and coordinate policies and programs for the Building
and Safety division. N

This position is currently filled with apart-time contract employee. As the largest city in the
County as well as the County seat, the City of San Bernardino needs a full-time, on-staff Chief =
