The house is a two (2) bedroom and two (2)bathroom, 1,314 square foot residence built in 1925. It has been in a state of grave disrepair for many years. The subject property was acquired by the Redevelopment Agency during the Empire Bay scenario and the home on the property was initially pursued for demolition to leave room for development of new high quality housing. Within the last several years, the house has been boarded up several times and from time to time has experienced problems of drugs, homeless, and other transients living at the property. Total costs for demolition, permits, and removal of any and all debris and asbestos is $4,900. Due to the age of the home being seventy years old (70) and the state of disrepair, Agency staff is recommending the demolition of the residence for the elimination of blight and a hazard to the City and the surrounding neighborhood. Staff therefore recommends adoption of the form motion. BARBARA J.
