STAFF REPORT
Bids for Phase II of the improvements to Littlefield/
Shultis (Buckboard) Park were opened at 2 : 00 p.m. , Tuesday, 5-9-
95 .
A total of two bids were received, in the amounts of
$211 , 987 . 92 and $244 , 318 . 74 for the Basic Bid. The low bid of
$211 , 987 . 92 is 3 . 2% under the Architect/Engineer' s Estimate of
$219 , 079 . 00 .
An alternate was included in the contract documents for a
prefabricated restroom building. This alternate is not
recommended, since it is significantly higher than the low price
for the Basic Bid.
Below is the total estimated project cost, based upon the
actual low bid price.
Construction Contract (Basic Bid) $ 211 , 987 . 92
Consultant ' s Design Fee 10 , 994 . 00
Construction Engineering (W.O. #1823) 11 , 000 . 00
Sub-Total $ 233 , 981 . 92
Contingencies (3%) ± 7 , 018 . 08
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 241 , 000 . 00
An allocation of $255 , 000 has been made in the 1994/95
Park Construction Fee Fund Budget, under Account No. 243-363-
5504-1823 .
The contract documents also included Additive Alternate
No. One for installing irrigation and landscaping. This
alternate was to be incorporated into the contract, if sufficient
funds were available. A price of $13 ,207 . 00 was listed in the
low bid for irrigation and landscaping, which is less than the
available balance of $14 , 000 . 00 .
We recommend that a contract be awarded to the low bidder
for the Basic Bid plus Additive Alternate No. One.
