CITY OF SAN BERN " RDINO - REQUEST F^R COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
The San Bernardino Police Department, through joint operations with
the California Highway Patrol, will initiate Operation Safe Streets
II . Operation Safe Streets II will once again take a zero
tolerance enforcement approach to violent crime; it' s mission to
reduce criminal activity.
Operation Safe Streets II will commence on July 5, 1995 and run
through the summer months to the end of September 1995 . Operation
Safe Streets II will target geographical areas in the City that
have the highest incidents of violent crime.
As in Operation Safe Streets, it is believed that a reduction in
crime will occur. This program, as it did in Operation Safe
Streets, should increase the security of the citizens of San
Bernardino, reduce the perception of fear and create a better
environment for our community' s residents .
Although Operation Safe Streets was a short term program, it proved
to be a valuable tool in reducing criminal activity and the
perception of fear associated with it .
