STAFF REPORT
Santa Fe Railway has secured approval to operate a
temporary intermodal facility, on the parcel east of Rancho
Avenue and south of the railway tracks. Installation of normal
street improvements was not required as a condition of approval,
since this is a temporary use.
Councilman Ralph Hernandez has convinced Mr. Norm
Johnson, owner of the parcel , to donate the concrete and
aggregate base needed for installation of curb and gutter, and
fill-in street paving.
Santa Fe has provided the necessary plans for these
improvements, at their cost.
Below is an estimate of the total project cost, not
including the concrete and aggregate base which will be donated.
Construction Contract $ 22,974
Construction Inspection (W.O. #7003) 1 ,500
Sub-Total $ 24 , 474
Contingencies (15%) ± 3 ,526
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 28 , 000
The cost of the donated materials will be as follows:
Portland Cement Concrete - 54 C.Y. @ $49 $ 2 , 646
Aggregate Base - 333 Tons at $7 2 ,331
TOTAL COST OF DONATED MATERIALS $ 4 , 977
It is recommended that $28 ,000 be transferred from the
available balance for the improvement of Mill Street (south
side) , west of Meridian Avenue, to provide the necessary funds to
cover the costs that will be incurred for the improvement of
Rancho Avenue.
We recommend that the transfer of $28 , 000 be approved;
the plans approved, and authorization granted to advertise for
bids.
