Synopsis of Previous Commission/Councit/Committee Action(s):
On January 23,1995,the Community Development Commission approved a financial incentive package to the United States
Postal Service(USPS)in closed session.
On February 6, 1995,the Commission approved the monetary assistance portion to be redirected to 770 South Gifford Street.
On March 13, 1995, the Commission authorized an agreement to acquire a portion of 770 South Gifford Street for
development of a parking lot for the USPS Remote Encoding Center.

USPS Remote Encoding Center
On January 23, 1995, the Community Development Commission approved a proposal for assistance
in locating a United States Postal Service (USPS) Remote Encoding Center in the City of San
Bernardino. Subsequently, on February 6, 1995, the Commission redirected the monetary assistance
package to the property located at 770 South Gifford Street. In accordance with the previous
Commission actions, it is appropriate that a joint public hearing be held to consider entering into a
lease transaction with Gifford Industrial Park, Ltd. It is recommended that the joint public hearing
be held on Monday, May 15, 1995, at 11:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers.
The joint public hearing will be conducted pursuant to the provisions of Health and Safety Code
Sections 33431 and 33433. The property is located within the redevelopment project area of the
Inland Valley Development Agency (IVDA) which has requested the assistance of the Agency with
respect to undertaking certain redevelopment activities within its project area.
Staff recommends adoption of the form motion.
