Systems Construction Fund budget approved.
09-05-95 - Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise
for bids.
02-19-96 - Resolution No. 96-45 adopted awarding a contract for
low bid price of $122 , 397 . 25 .
Recommended motion:
That Change Order No. 1 to the contract with J.E.G. Construction
Companv, Inc. nor installation of traffic signals at Mill St. and
Meridian Ave. , in accordance with Plan No. 9349 , be approved; to
compensate the Contractor for extra work in the concrete removal and
replacement, grading, installation of a retaining wall and the
placement of additional aggregate base and asphalt concrete
pavement, to provide a. pedestrian walkway and the widening of the
southeast corner of Mill St. and Meridian Ave. at an estimated
increase in the contract price of $13 , 1 . 95 , from $1 97 . 25 to
$135 , 585 . 20 .

STAFF REPORT
The plans for installation of traffic signals at Mill
Street and Meridian Avenue include street improvements of the
intersection. However, there will be a length of about 100 feet
adjoining the corner lot without sidewalk.
It has been requested that construction of this 100 feet
of sidewalk be installed under the contract for traffic signals.
A plan was, therefore, prepared for widening,, grading, con-
struction of a 4--foot high block retaining wall and sidewalk
adjacent to the corner lot. This new sidewalk will join existing
sidewalk constructed by subdivisions to the south.
The Contractor has quoted a price of $13 , 187 . 95 for this
extra work.
The total estimated project cost included an amount of
$12 , 052 . 75 for contingencies, which can be used to finance the
cost for this extra work. Supplemental funding may be needed, in
the event that significant other contingency costs are incurred,
or cost savings are not realized.
All costs incurred for Change Order No. One will be
charged to Account No. 250 -370-5504-1911 .
We recommend that Change Order No. One be approved.

CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER NO. ONE

Gentlemen:
You are hereby compensated for performing the extra work as
directed by the Resident Engineer, as follows:
(1) Remove and dispose of approximately 75-lineal feet of curb
& gutter, at $ 6.40 per lineal foot, at a total cost of
$ 480. 00.
(2) Excavate 168 cubic yards of material at $ 10.75 per cubic
yard, at a total cost of $ 1,806.00.
(3) Relocate or replace as required, 100-lineal feet of chain
link fencing, at a cost of $ 10.06 per lineal foot, at a
total cost of $ 1, 006. 00.
(4) Construct approximately 108-lineal feet of masonry block
retaining wall, on a time and material basis, at a cost not
to exceed $ 7, 200.00.
(5) Provide an additional move-on and install 75-lineal feet of
Curb & Gutter @ the contract price of $ 16. 00 per lineal
feet, at a total cost of $ 1, 200. 00.
(6) Install 450 S.F. of sidewalk @ the contract bid price of
$ 2 . 65 per lineal foot, at a total cost of $ 1, 192 .50.
(7) Place 4.5 tons of asphalt concrete pavement, at the contract
price of $ 38. 10 per ton, for a total cost of $ 171.45.
(8) Place 5. 5 tons of class 11 aggregate base, at the contract
price of $ 24 . 00 per tons, at a total cost of $ 132 . 00.
