Observed on the fourth Sunday of each July, Parents' Day stimulates
education and awareness of issues surrounding parenting, family
challenges and problems. While the day itself cannot solve problems
or offer solutions, it is hoped that it will stimulate positive dialogue,
activities and solutions that lead to responsible parenting, use of
effective parenting skills and caring of children.
Observing Parents' Day also provides an opportunity to honor those
who are making a difference in the lives of families. Nationwide
organizations and communities are encouraged to pay tribute to
outstanding parents, leaders, child care providers, groups and
agencies that are helping to perpetuate responsible parenting. On a
national level, the National Parents' Day Coalition honors and
recognizes those who have had national impact through their
programs and services and who are pioneering achievements in
parenting.
